After all the challenges that met me in the previous scroll, I wasn’t too excited to start this one — what a wonderful, marvelous, amazing surprise I discovered here; I had to read it three times that first morning! This is exactly the message my subby needed to hear after the old holidays blueprint surfaced big time, as modurkinmasterkey, Week 13 so poignantly reflected.
Then I had to chuckle at the “coincidences” I kept seeing. First was the quote from Scroll 3 that speaks to me every time I read this one: “I will persist and develop my skills.” (I had already chosen that text before hearing Mark.) Next was the short lesson that Mark directed us to after Sunday’s video — about why our business isn’t thriving — we aren’t prepared — we haven’t been diligent in “perfect practice.” Now Mandino spells out in detail how to prepare, and what to practice (page 70):
I will increase my knowledge of mankind, myself, and the goods I sell, thus my sales will multiply. I will practice and improve, and polish the words I utter to sell my goods, for this is the foundation on which I will build my career…Also will I seek constantly to improve my manners and graces, for they are the sugar to which all are attracted.
Even if I weren’t in a business to sell a product or service to others, how much better will life be just knowing and believing that “I am not on this earth by chance. I am here for a purpose (DMP) and that purpose is to grow into a mountain, not to shrink to a grain of sand.”
By making several cards “I am nature’s (God’s) greatest miracle” to add to my achievement/gratitude decks, I will continually remind myself that I am unique and have something to offer my world that no one else can give, and this New Year 2015 will be my best year ever — IF I am diligent in perfectly practicing, because knowledge without action is worthless!
